The Science of Optical Ticket Scanning
A digital ticket is not just an aesthetic graphic; it is an optical data carrier. Bad ticket design leads to scanning errors and long queues:
1. High Contrast Quiet Zone Every QR code requires a clean white or light margin (quiet zone) around its boundary. Placing dark gradients directly against the QR code squares causes optical scanner cameras to miss alignment patterns.
2. Prominent Ticket Code Fallback Always display the short alphanumeric ticket code (e.g. `SPK-9482`) directly below the QR code. If an attendee's phone screen is cracked, volunteers can manually type the 4-digit code in 3 seconds.
3. Immediate Event Information Venue, gate opening time, and attendee name must be legible at a glance without zooming in.
